Anniversary weekend

Money has been tight these last few years so it makes for celebrating our anniversary a bit more interesting. This year we decided to celebrate with nature.

We stayed up at the mountain house while Aunt Dawn watched the kids back home.
We went for a hike ..... on snowy wet ground.
It wasn't too bad.

I got to enjoy some sun and do some reading while Aaron fished.

12 inch Brown or Brook Trout

Fishing in the Arkansas River

These are some panoramic views that I took when we hiked to the peak of a mountain.

We were in the Sangre National Forest here.

And of course there was some target practice.

We ate some great meals, stayed up late and slept in.
I taught Aaron a new game, Rummikub, and we had a blast playing.
We really wanted to stay an extra day but alas responsibility called us back home.
Darn that conscious!

We is half way there baby!

I wish that meant we were halfway to a tropical island

but

it

really

just

means

we

are

on

Day 20, of our 40 Day Cleanse!
Click on the above link to discover what this is.

So one of the things I tackled was my vacuum cleaner
Meaning, I cleaned the beater bar, the waste tank and cleaned the filter.
It's not my favorite job but my vacuum works so much better now.

I also did Linen closet #3 (the kids linen closet). Below is the before picture, the after picture I have not taken but I am afraid you wouldn't notice much of a difference. It's a little more organized with only about 7 things purged - old prescriptions and other odds and ends that were trash.

As of this morning, I have 24 areas done.
How are you progressing at this halfway point?

How are you doing on your cleanse?

It's Day 13 of the 40 Day Cleanse

I panicked this morning because I hadn't done much 'cleansing' in the past couple of days

However, I did make 4 scripture totes.

However when I counted the areas I had completed this morning

I was at 13!

Since it's going to be a yucky weather day

I've decided to make and freeze homemade chicken noodle soup

And work on cleansing some more areas.

Below is a picture of Shelby's 'junk' closet

Yeah, it's clean and organized

And she even has more room for more 'junk' ha ha

Since we started the cleanse

Here is an update on what some have you have said:

Linda Montgomery has decided to clean all 40 windows in her home - one a day!
Now that's a pace that I can work with.

Scharlotte Smith had cleaned out 11 areas on Day 6 - she is kicking my tail!

Emily Eliason cleaned out so much paperwork she was able to get rid of a filing cabinet!

Jodi Leski reluctantly cleaned out 4 cabinets last week and it felt so good she was eager to do more.

Elisa Thelen and Jess Reynolds have so much energy and so much going on. These ladies will rock with bags and bags of 'stuff' that will find a better home.

Jen DeGraw started with a cabinet of stuff left behind from the previous home owners. woot woot

I've seen Dawn Hess's list and she is doing a fantastic job.

Don't forget to let me know what you have done so that we can help motivate others to do the cleanse.

Happy Cleansing Ladies!
And any gentlemen that might be participating.

Got some curiosity about our temples?

Kansas City is getting ready to dedicate a new temple as well as one being built in Fort Collins, CO - Latter Day Saints in these areas are very eager for their completion.
Watch this video to help you have a better understanding of why those of the LDS faith have a great love of the temple.

What was Day #5 of the Cleanse

That's not today but I will tell the story anyway.

So, last year I had 'clean ceiling fans' on my list.

WHY?

Cause I am pretty lazy about cleaning them. We had 7 fans on 3 different levels and I hated carting all the cleaning stuff around to clean them.

So it was natural for me to put it on my list this year.

I look forward to clean fans.
I know, a weird quirk of mine.

So, Monday rolls around after a nice weekend away from the kids in Glenwood Springs and I have to figure out WHAT to clean.

I got motivated to clean the fans - keep in mind that it was night by the time I got to do my cleansing.

And

then

a

thought

occurred

to

me.

This

new

house

has

ONLY

drum droll please

1 (one) ceiling fan.

Cha ching, ba bing!

And that is how we roll around here.

Happy Cleansing!!!

Cleanse Day #5

Gun safe - AFTER
**sorry I forgot to take one before, I get so excited when I am cleaning and purging

Linen Closet #1 - BEFORE

Linen closet #1 - AFTER
this closet is in the master bathroom, this house gets an 'A' for closet space

Please keep in mind that I only just moved into this house 8 months ago and have had little time to collect stuff, but I am hoping to keep it this way by continuing to do the cleanse every year.
